Somebody wants to cruise on your Facebook profile just a little (or a lot) too much and it’s starting to creep you out.
What are your options?
Getting off of Facebook and defriending lots of people is an option some people take, but in extreme cases I prefer to simply block the person who’s making me uncomfortable. I’ve only done it 3 or 4 times, for good reason, and it feels terrific to be safer in my Facebook experience.
Some things you should know:
Facebook wisely doesn’t tell anybody that they’ve been blocked or defriended, for that matter, so this spares any uncomfortable feelings all around. Hats off to Zucks for this considerate move. π Once somebody’s been blocked they can’t find you via a Facebook search or see any of your activities on Facebook, even if you have lots of mutual friends. There’s nothing to fear except going through another week of worrying about person X who doesn’t need to be seeing your social life online.

Oh too many stories to relate. Sadly unfriending & blocking someone has become the new social snub for those needing a public display of their current state of affection. The same behavior can be seen in the relationship status change announcers. I guess I’m naive to hope that old bad behaviors would get shed with new technologies and medias but any tool is just an extension of human culture, good & bad.

Isn’t that the truth!?! We’ve all heard about people learning about their own breakup via status changes and I’m not even talking about high schoolers!! I’ve seen it in a much older, more savvy crowd.
It’s pretty dramatic in most instances, but for the true creeper scenario, it’s pretty sweet!! π
