Keep Believing In Yourself Creative Visibility

“You shouldn’t be doubting. You should just be going for it.” Kate Winslet

It’s like Roger Bannister running a 4 minute mile in 1954.

Every doctor, coach, and armchair athlete declared there was no way the human body could run a mile in less than 4 minutes. As they say in Game of Thrones, “It is known.”

Yet Kate Winslet, globally loved English actress and singer, has been recognized so far with an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, four Golden Globe Awards, a Grammy Award, a BIFA Award, an AACTA Award, and three BAFTA Awards for her creative work.

In a manner of speaking, Kate runs 4 minute miles.

She does what no authority said she could do, what no system provided for her, what no magazine said she’d be able to do. She embodies creative visibility at the highest levels. How does she do it?

In the BAFTA awards clip below Kate shares a telling moment when she was 14 years old.

A respected authority told her that she “might do okay” if she settled for “the fat girl parts.

I absolutely love what Kate says she did with that advice and all thoughts to that effect:

  • Just don’t listen to ANY of it.
  • Overcome your fears
  • Keep believing in yourself.

And finally:

“You shouldn’t be doubting. You should just be going for it.”

Appreciating Kate’s AttaGirl and passing it on to you.
